This session will include activities and discussion on:
- We are not heads on sticks – we must take care of our self physically
- The four pillars of physical energy – nutrition, hydration, movement and recovery
- Stress is not the bad guy – balancing energy out with energy in
- Healthy habits to build mental toughness and positivity
- Action planning
Positive Psychology is the scientific study of what humans need to be happy and to thrive. Its insights can help us improve our wellbeing and mental health, overcome adversity and be the best version of yourself. A key finding from Positive Psychology is that emotions and behaviours spread – positive and negative. So by applying an understanding of Positive Psychology to improve our own wellbeing, we play our part in creating a positive working environment for the organisation as a whole.
This session includes:
- An introduction to Positive Psychology – history and key concepts
- The PERMA – PP model (Martin Seligman)
- Positive Emotions – moving out of ‘victim’ mindset into one of positive influence / ratio of 3:1 positive to negative / choosing a positive attitude / think, feel, do model – Video clip / activity
- Engagement – celebrating success / looking for what is good / brain’s negative bias – activity
- Relationships – being kind / behaviour spreads – Candid camera clip – activity
- Meaning – Gratitudes activity
- Accomplishment – goal setting activity
- Commitments forward – action planning and next steps
As change in the workplace has become the norm, we are constantly facing new and bigger challenges. When things don’t always go as planned, our ability to bounce back is put to the test. To thrive in this climate, it’s essential to learn from our setbacks and move forward, rather than wallowing or dwelling on them.
This 90 minute session will include discussion and practical activities on the following:
- What is resilience?
- The six keys to resilience
- How we sometimes get in our own way (and how not to!)
- Self-care tips and techniques
Mental health issues affect around one in six workers at any given time, yet few ask their employers for help. The result can be bad for the individual concerned, as well as for the organisation. This session helps build delegates understanding of mental health and introduces an approach for talking more openly and supportively about this important issue.
During the session you will learn about:
- Why is it important to talk about mental health at work?
- A story of depression based on lived experience and why this is relevant.
- The language of mental health – let’s talk about energy and talk about it more often.
- What is mental health stigma?
- The business case for wellbeing – this is not a fluffy subject.
- The good news with case studies.
- Where does mental health fit into the business agenda?
- How can we support our people?
- Four tips to normalise mental like physical health.
