Management training built around your values

Our management programmes are multi-module courses based on the latest research and our extensive experience in management, wellbeing and professional skills. They build into a complete foundation in people-centred management.

Working closely with you, we can devise a programme that fits with your needs and budget, and transmits your key cultural values to new managers.

You can choose from our huge bank of existing modules, or opt to have something new designed just for you. We can include 360 appraisals, psychometrics, coaching and a range of other tools to cement learning and support delegates’ development.

People-centred management

Drawing on research and experience from the most successful organisations, we have identified a virtuous circle of three key elements that are vital to a thriving, profitable people-oriented culture: Wellbeing, productive interactions and thriving relationships.

These elements reinforce each other, and provide a guide to the areas where your investment in your managers can have the biggest impact.

All of our management training is informed by this simple model, which recognises their key role in maintaining collaboration, motivation, morale and engagement.

Example programmes

Below you can read three example programmes designed to meet the needs of three very different organisations. If you would like to discuss what your programme might look like please get in touch.

Example 1: Multinational technology company

This programme was developed for middle managers at a multinational technology company. It includes 6 day long modules focusing on a range of skills, but emphasising the themes of emotional intelligence and transformational leadership.

Example 2: Women leaders in science

This programme was developed specifically to help develop new female leaders in a traditionally male dominated sector. It was delivered over three sessions, and focused on personal impact, leadership skills and political skills. MORE ABOUT WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP COURSES.

Example 3: Small local charity

This programme was developed for a pair of local charities, and was designed to provide their managers with a grounding in the essentials of good management over four sessions. It included the Strengths Finder tool with follow-up coaching and a team development workshop.

Client feedback

The management development programme developed for us by Cambridge Executive Development has been a big success with both the managers who have attended the programme, and the colleagues they work with in their day-to-day roles. The inclusion of a 360 degree appraisal for each delegate really helped to focus minds on what each individual needed to work on, as well as giving them some confidence boosting feedback on the things they were already good at. CED’s trainer provided sensitive face-to-face feedback to every delegate, helping them obtain the maximum possible benefit from their colleagues’ input. The programme included modules looking at various aspects of team development, communication and leadership skills, and concluded with presentations from the delegates to senior managers. Over a year on from the start of the programme, we are extremely happy with the quality and impact of the training, which is now well into its third cohort of managers. We would happily recommend CED to other companies interested in developing first-class managers and future business leaders.

Following a period of rapid growth and a boost in funding we found ourselves struggling to keep up with the increased demand for our services. Staff were stretched, and managers were feeling the pressure. We invited Cambridge Executive Development in to help build the capabilities of our management team in leading the organisation through this challenging period. Kate Jennings has worked closely with us for over a year, delivering leadership training, coaching, psychometrics and a strategy day. Over this period she has developed an intimate understanding of the issues we face and has taken a personal interest in our success. The results have been excellent, with a significant improvement in the capabilities of our management team, clearer roles and responsibilities, better communication and shared strategic goals. We’ve seen a significant return on our investment in Cambridge Executive Development, with a 37% increase in revenue that has helped secure the long-term future of the charity.

Cambridge Executive Development designed and run a leadership programme for the British Antarctic Survey. The feedback from the attendees was incredibly positive:

  • Excellent and delivered at a good pace
  • Good amount of interaction with others.
  • Gives you an opportunity to ‘think’ which rarely happens at work. Valuable and very helpful with future career development.
  • Helps you understand where you are now and gives you the tools to ‘step up’
