Course details
Who is it for?
This programme is designed for managers and others with responsibility for the performance and wellbeing of staff at work.
What is the course about?
In today’s workplace, with its fast-evolving challenges and high expectations, pressure is the new norm. For many, this pressure is beneficial – it encourages us to give a bit more, work a bit harder, achieve more than we thought. For others, pressure can become stress, which can have considerable negative impacts on physical and mental health. Obviously this is harmful and difficult for the individual concerned, but it can also have a big impact on team performance and morale.
Many managers are not sure how best to support a staff member showing signs of stress or mental health issues. They delay a conversation with them for fear of getting it wrong. In many cases this approach can make it worse. The sooner the issue is raised, the more effective the support can be and the greater the likelihood of a good outcome – for the individual, the team and the organisation as a whole.
But as well as knowing how to deal with issues when they arise, managers are also ideally placed to play a preventative role. By helping team members develop their own resilience they can become more capable of managing their own pressure and stress. Teams with high resilience demonstrate great flexibility, high energy, mental agility and consistently perform at their highest level. Their members have strong relationships and build wide support networks that help them amplify their productivity and results.
This practically oriented one day programme led by an expert trainer helps managers build the skills to identify and effectively support staff under pressure and / or stress. It also helps them understand how to develop their own, and their team's levels of resilience and wellbeing at work.
